ALBUFEIRA - Central Algarve Taxis Taxis in Albufeira cannot usually be "flagged down" without a short skirt. You need to go to one of many taxi ranks or phone to book. Bookings are on demand rather than in advance. Taxis are very reasonably priced and regulated by the council. You can get a taxi from one side of Albufeira to the other for about 5 euros and most journeys around town do not go over the 3.25 euros start point on the meter. This start point changes to 3.90 after 2200 and at weekends and public holidays. A taxi to the bar from the old town or anywhere in Albufeira will be the minimum fare or just over. There is a Taxi rank just a few hundred yards up the road from the bar. Taxi Fare Detail Car Hire Auto Jardim Albufeira Buses Within Albufeira there is a local service of four lines red 1, red 2, blue and green all of which start from and return to the bus station. These are known as the “giro” routes and with over 100 stops the buses run east as far as the top and bottom of the strip and to the west as far as the new marina. The Blue giro bus stops very close to the bar. They run every day from 7.00am to 8.00pm from October to May and until 2300 in the summer months. A "journey" costs the same whether you travel just one stop or do the entire 50 minute round trip.
